protagonist adventure

Setting out

Forget the cozy confines of your writing desk. Instead of an ordinary character study, go on an interactive "choose-your-own-experience"  that will reveal truths about the hero (or villain, or anti-hero!) you're bringing to life.

Based on prompts from the FLOWERGAMES’ workbooks, you'll guide your protagonist through unfamiliar scenarios exploring themes like guidance, rituals and comfort.

Will they feast with abandon or savor each morsel? Will they embrace the unknown or cling to the familiar? Each choice you make will illuminate their personality.

This is your protagonist's adventure, and it starts now. Are you ready to guide them?

The Adventure

The Feast

Imagine your protagonist standing before a table laden with comfort food. The aroma of roasted meats, warm bread, and sweet desserts fills the air. How does your protagonist react?

a) Indulge with gusto! Driven by a hearty appetite and a love for all things delicious, your protagonist grabs a plate and piles it high with their favorites. (Go to The Outsider)

b) Show restraint and appreciation. Perhaps a more discerning palate or a mindful approach to food leads your protagonist to pause and appreciate the spread before carefully selecting a few choice dishes. (Go to The Whisper)

The Outsider

Your protagonist finds themselves at a bustling gathering in a place they've never been before. The music is unfamiliar and a sense of being out of place washes over them. Do they:

a) Attempt to blend in. Feeling insecure and unsure, your protagonist tries to mimic the gestures and expressions of those around them, hoping to go unnoticed. (Go to The Stranger)

b) Embrace the novelty. Curiosity  lead your protagonist to strike up a conversation with someone nearby, eager to learn about this new culture. (Go to The Lighthouse)

The Whisper

Your protagonist is walking along a windswept coastline, the salty air whipping through their hair. A sense of peace settles over them as they listen to the waves crashing against the shore. Suddenly, they hear a whisper in the wind, faint but clear. Does your protagonist:

a) Heed the call. Trusting their instincts and feeling a pull towards the unknown, your protagonist ventures down the path. (Go to The Village)

b) Stick to the known. Despite the allure of the unknown, your protagonist decides to stick to the familiar path, prioritizing caution over curiosity. (Go to The Lighthouse)

The Stranger

As your protagonist tries to navigate the unfamiliar environment, a mysterious stranger approaches. They seem to understand your protagonist's confusion and offer to guide them.

Does your protagonist:

a) Accept the helping hand. Relieved and grateful, your protagonist accepts the offer of help, hoping this stranger can lead them somewhere they feel more comfortable. (Go to The Ritual)

b) Forge their own path. With a desire to discover things on their own, your protagonist politely declines the offer, preferring to find their own way. (Go to The Outsider)

The Lighthouse

Your protagonist finds themself drawn to a towering lighthouse, its beacon cutting through the fog. The rhythmic pulse of the light seems to offer a sense of stability and direction.

Does your protagonist:

a) Seek a new vantage point. Your protagonist ascends the winding staircase, eager to see the world from the top. (Go to The Revelation)

b) Find comfort in stability. The solid presence of the lighthouse offers comfort, and your protagonist is content to observe from a distance, finding solace in its steadfastness. (Go to The Siblings)

The Village

The path leads your protagonist to a hidden village nestled in a valley. The villagers are preparing for a festival, their faces alight with excitement. Your protagonist soon realizes they are preserving ancient rituals amidst the threat of modernization.

Does your protagonist:

a) Immerse themselves in the experience. Eager to learn and experience something new, Go to The Ritual)

b) Respect from afar. With a sense of respect for the village's customs, your protagonist chooses to observe from a distance, appreciating their dedication to their heritage. (Go to The Revelation)

The Siblings

Your protagonist encounters a pair of siblings who have created a new ritual to honor the memory of a loved one lost in a tragic event. Their grief is palpable, but so is their love and resilience.Does your protagonist:

a) Offer support and connection. Feeling empathy and a desire to connect, your protagonist joins their ritual, offering support and participating in their ceremony of remembrance. (Go to The Revelation)

b) Give space and privacy. Recognizing the intimacy of the moment, your protagonist offers their condolences but respects their private moment of grief. (Go to The Lighthouse)

The Ritual

Your protagonist stumbles upon a group performing a mysterious ritual in a secluded clearing. Their movements are hypnotic, their chants echoing through the trees.Does your protagonist:

a) Investigate the mystery. Intrigued by the unknown, your protagonist approaches cautiously, seeking to understand the meaning behind their actions. (Go to The Revelation)

b) Maintain a respectful distance. Feeling it's not their place to intrude, your protagonist backs away slowly, choosing to respect their privacy and leave them undisturbed. (Go to The Village)

Returning to the writing desk

Now, take a moment to consider your protagonist's journey. What have they learned about themselves? How have their experiences shaped their perspective? What new strengths have they discovered? And how will they carry these lessons forward into their story?

No matter which path you've chosen for your protagonist, they've arrived at a moment of clarity. They realize that comfort can be found in the most unexpected places, and that sometimes, stepping outside their comfort zone can lead to profound experiences and new understandings.

This is just the beginning of their adventure. By continuing to explore, your protagonist will continue to evolve. Did you learn anything new about your character?
