This blog post has been designed to bypass procrastination by having fun while writing. While reading it, enjoy playing around with single words because when it all comes to all, words are the building blocks of writing.
Being that procrastination often stems from a feeling of overwhelm, choosing between so many words can make it feel daunting to start. That is why I suggest creating a word grid.
Create a Word-grid
Firstly create nine boxes similar to the picture below. You can also download the free instant printable here.
Secondly, write down a word in each box. Either with words that pops to mind or by writing a category or title at the top of the paper to help spur on related words.
For instance categories could be animals, plants, or kitchen appliances. Headlines could be things I love, things I hate, or things I see on my way to work. Or look to the bottom of this post for further inspiration.
Then when you have nine words, start brainstorming each word, and when something feels exciting, circle it, go to a new journal page and start to write.

Finally brainstorm each word in the squares and see where it leads you.
Bypass procrastination one week at a time
What’s more here is an inspiration list for an entire year of word-grids. Write down the category or title suggested below and then fill the word-grid as shown above. Thus you will have nine new words each week to play around with.
